Facebook has changed the game again with today’s introduction of the Facebook timeline for fan pages – and there are lots of favorite features that will no longer be available.  And Facebook page admins have to adapt to  the new layout by March 31st.

The first thing that you’ll notice are gone are landing tabs. This popular feature, which has been used to introduce potential customers to fan pages, will be missed – especially by the marketing companies that have made a cottage industry out of the feature over the last two years.

The new  Facebook pages will offer creative ways of using the new cover photo to promote your restaurant visually in ways that were not available before.   Graphic content will become more important than ever as photos will be expanding to cover the full width of your page.  Instead of a few small pictures offering a glimpse of dishes and dining rooms you’ll have access to a broad canvas – which will mean that amateur food photos will quickly become a thing of the past.  An immediate crash course in food photography will be the first agenda for every restaurant with a page on Facebook – as always visuals are of critical importance when promoting food.
